Two summers ago, Naomi – a friend of 20 yrs from my teen years – hired me to do her family portraits. I’m always thrilled to see friends I haven’t seen in a long time, so I jumped at the chance to take a trip to Peterborough Riverview Park and Zoo to do a session with her family!
As lovely as it was to see Naomi again, and meet her husband, Tim, I was delighted to meet her ‘mini’ people. Seriously…it was a blast to see tiny versions of Naomi’s introverted spunk with a balance of headstrong determined demeanor! Not to mention they were a-dor-a-ble!
This time was no different with the exception that both girls, Maggie and Hazel, have grown 10x bigger. Ok, maybe not 10x bigger, but they are certainly growing up and, as a photographer, it’s such a privilege to be a part of that.
I’ve dug into the archives and pulled out a couple of my favourites from their session two years ago. Compare them to the session we just finished a couple of weeks ago and you’ll see what I’m talking about:

And here are this year’s portraits! I think it’s fair to say that the girls aren’t the only ones who’ve grown in the past 2 years. As I looked through the images I captured 2 years ago, (from a behind-the-scenes perspective) I have improved a lot. My shots are crisper, cleaner, more fun and most importantly, more quality shots in less time.
I have to say, I’m pretty pleased how Maggie, Hazel and I have matured in the last couple of years! The good news is that the best years have yet to come….I look forward to 2013!
